Fallout 3 prop Pip-boy 3000 by CopperCentipede Fallout 3 prop Pip-boy 3000 by CopperCentipede
A prop Pip-boy 3000 from Fallout 3. Made it a few years ago and it's still my favorite prop, save for the fact that I wish I had made it with some sturdier materials. It's almost entirely made of cardboard and stryofoam with a clever paintjob so it's a lot less durable than it looks. It's got a panel of LEDs inside behind the paper screen for backlighting (runs on two D batteries). My favorite bits are the Geiger counter which was hand drawn with a really tiny pen, and the blood/grime on the screen which was just plain fun to do.

A rebuild is in the works, possibly involving parts being built roughly like this one, but then molded and cast in plastic/resin.

It looks like the real one from the game.

Thank you! Enjoyed making all the intricate little details and cutting the various cardboard geometries on this project. : )
Really want to remake it out of sturdier stuff someday. I say that every time somebody comments on it since I made it years ago, but I've yet to actually get on to doing it. Ha ha.

Yea I know that feeling lol, I've got costumes I've wanted to remake but haven't gotten around to it yet. Hopefully you do get to remake this one, I'd love to see it :meow:

Thanks! Oh man, I've played through Fallout 3 soo many times. Definitely one of my favorites. Tried the first two a while back ... couldn't get very far without a walkthrough and didn't have the time to play games anyway. But I really like the general aesthetic of that universe.
Actually haven't finished New Vegas yet since my PC doesn't like running games, but just started again on Xbox the other day because I realized my roommates had a copy and I have time to play games again for once. : )
Yeah, I can't wait either!
