These are the fossilized remains of Omanyte, an extinct sea creature. This particular creature, especially in its fossilized form, has become a subject of attention recently as a large underground cult dedicated to its worship has been gaining publicity. These cultists often consult the fossilized creature, whom they call "Lord Helix", for guidance... even for the most mundane of tasks and seemingly inopportune times.
