4 Stone Cthulhus by CopperCentipede 4 Stone Cthulhus by CopperCentipede
3 newer stone Cthulhu Idols (oldest to newest left to right respectively) and one of the little ones I made when I first started stonecarving. Been getting better at rounding/sanding out the stone to a better sheen and color. Largest ones are about 2 inches high.
Once i get some brush-on style rubber I want to try casting these guys in resin.

They look great, I've seen so many carved Cthulhu statues before and these are one of my favourites. I love the contrast between the more weathered and antiqued little one on the far right and the taller ones. - it's like the first three were found in an archeological dig but the fourth was washed out to sea and washed up decades later on a beach.

Are you interested in the originals or resin copies? I am willing to sell the original stone sculpt of the one second from the left.
last night I started building up some brush-on rubber molds of two of these guys [link] that should be ready to cast in a few days time. And right now I'm making the a mold box for the largest idol in this photo which will be done with some stuff that will only take few hours before it's ready to cast. I'm very excited about all this, if you couldn't tell. : ) It's fun trying new materials.

What would be the price for the original and the resin?

Exceptional work! The crude and the refined - all have the feel of objects found on an abandoned beach after a storm or near an overgrown swamp monolith. What type of stone did you use?

Thank you! that's what i was going for. They are all green soapstone hewn from the same chunk except for the little one which is probably also green or black soapstone with a slightly different consistency.

These are great, the tallest one is my fave. I like the combination of curves and geometric planes.
I recently found the Propnomicon blog [link] and saw some of your Mythos stuff featured there and it felt like such a very small internet. : D

That's my favorite one too. They all started out as rectangular blocks so i tried to preserve the shape as best I could while carving a lot of smooth recessed areas too.

You cannot fathom the sound of uncontrollable gleeful mania that escaped my throat as that link loaded. The neighbors must hate me. : D
Oh man that is a cool site. So many new artists to watch haha.

Yeah man! I just noticed the new post over there with these Cthulhus but they've featured your past stuff as well. One of my favorite eye candy blogs, always makes me want to do costumes and artifacts. @0@

Spent all last night ogling the fantastic work over there. I have come away very inspired! Thanks for sharing that link.
I'm really surprised how many of my idols were featured there over the last few years without me knowing ha ha. I need to crawl out from underneath my rock more often so I don't miss this kind of stuff.
